How to solve N73 auto turn off problem

Its been very long time since the last time i update my blog. Being too busy with life. I have a lot of things to share but too little time to spend on this little blog. Today i will share with you one of the most frustrating problem of N73. Actually this problem is very common for other phones as well but i know it happen for most of N73 users out there. It is the all famous AUTO TURN OFF problem. Had you ever experience your N73 get automatically turn off while you are texting sms , talking with phone or even when you put it on the table? It getting more frustrating when you put it in the pocket for whole day not knowing that it already being turn off automatically. It give me a lot of trouble, people loss communication with me and start blaming me for it. This problem had been bother me for so long and i can't seem to find a solution to it until few weeks ago I managed to fixed it after i found of the core of the problem.

Normally when you took your phone to Nokia Service Centre or any phone shop, they will start blaming the problem to phone virus, firmware, circuit chip...etc. From my experience, normally all of these are not the core of problem. The core of the problem the design of N73. Our N73 is shutting down when the battery is out of its place. There are little gap or space between battery and N73 back panel which allowed the battery to move and disconnected. Which eventually cause the phone to turn off immediately. To put this misery away, you need just a little piece of paper. Fold this little piece of paper, make sure the paper is not too thick. Open the back panel of your N73. Put this little piece of paper on top of your battery. Then close the back panel tightly. Now the problem is solve. The paper will took the gap or space between battery and back panel.

Now your phone will not automatically turn off EVER again!
This is tested 100% working by myself.

NoRedClose for symbian 3rd

All symbian phone has the red button like picture above. The red button enable you to End or Close any call instantly. It also enable you to close any application or game instantly.

The red button can be quite annoying sometimes because we usually will accidentally press it at the wrong time. I have some bad experiences with the red button. When Im playing games in final stage with my N73 but accidentally press the red button.....the whole game closed instantly and i have to play it all over again..Damn!

Now you can fix that problem. With NoRedClose, you can disable your red button, your red button will only work when you are in call. So whenever you are playing game or using any application with your phone, you never have to worry pressing the wrong button again!

After install the application, open it and let it run in background to disable red button. You can always enable the red button by exit the NoRedClose application.

Protect applications - if someone tries to access the protected applications.

Secure Storage

ADL Pro comes with a password-protected secure storage where you can place your confidential files. Files can be recovered easily by entering a password. You can use the secure storage as a safe deposit box for all your confidential documents, pictures and/or audio/video files.

SMS on SIM changed

ADL Pro alerts you if the SIM card on your phone has been changed by sending a notification SMS to a predefined number. The IMSI number of the new SIM card will be secretly sent to your backup number without the notion of the unauthorized user and then your mobile operator and local authorities can assist you to track the new user, and trace the phone.

For a backup number, you can use the number of your backup phone or any other secure number, such as that of your secretary, spouse, colleague or friend. If you have more than one SIM card and you wish to authorize them to use with your phone, you can do that by simply entering your pass-code once. The SIM card(s) will be remembered for further usage.

Remote Lock and Data Wipe

Remote Lock is a combination of settings designed to protect the phone from theft and abuse. You can pre-select actions for ADL Pro to perform on your phone when an SMS with a specific keyword is received.

Available options are:

Lock the phone
Switch on an alarm
Delete selected data

By choosing the Delete option, you can remotely delete sensitive information from your phone, such as Contacts, SMS, Gallery, Calendar and Secure Storage to protect it from unauthorized usage. If this option is selected and remotely activated, your phone will send you an SMS with a confirmation request to prevent from accidental mistakes.

Here some basic Frequently Asked Question for N73. Part 1

1. Why my Music player didn't show new songs i just copied to my memory card?
Open the n73 music player, click back until you see the Music menu. Go to Option>Refresh Music Library.

2. Why my new songs not in the list when selecting ringtone?
No matter the song is in your phone memory or memory card. All songs must put under the folder of sound in order to play as ringtone.

3.Why there are blue LED light blinking on my N73?
N73 blinking blue light is served as a power indicator. If you see the blue blinking while the screen looks blank and black, it means N73 is still power on, but is in the sleep mode to save battery power. Without that blue light, no one could tell that N73 is power on, until any key is pressed to light on the screen.

4. How to turn off the blue blinking light?
By default, N73 factory setting turns on the sleep function, which will black out N73 screen display to achieve optimum battery power saving mode. Some user might find that the blue alert light quite annoying specially when they want to sleep at night.

To turn it off, you will need to turn off the sleep mode. Sleep mode help to save battery power.
Navigate to: Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Display -> SLEEP MODE => off.

5. What is the function of the pencil button?

The Pencil button is B on the picture.

Hold the pencil button while booting your phone. You will start your phone as "safe mode" just like Windows.
When writing a sms, press the pencil button to insert more symbol or language.
To copy and paste text. It work just like Shift in the keyboard.
When writing a text. E.g: sms. Hold pencil button while pressing left or right. It will highlight the text. After highlight the text, press copy. Now you can release the pencil button. Find place where you want to paste the text, hold the pencil button and press paste.
To bookmark: to bookmark on multiple files, sms, contact, hold the pencil button while pressing the direction button (up/down, left/right)
Copy sms to your note. Open the sms you want to copy. Hold pencil button then press the C button. Your phone will not show any sign. Now go to menu>office>notes. Your sms content will be inside your note. Cool?

6. What is the function of the menu button?
Menu button is the A button

Press one time to view the menu
Hold menu to view applications which running on background and switch between them.

7. How do i switch my N73 to silent mode?
Menu>tools>profiles>silent

Hold the # button

8. How to check version of my firmware?
press *#0000#
VXX.XX is your firmware version
DD-MM-YY is your firmware date
NXX-X is your phone model

9. How to make my N73 to auto lock the keypad?
menu>tools>setting>security>phone and SIM>Autolock period>user defined>choose your time.

10. How to turn on/off active standby?
Active standby will show 6 application icons and your entry of the day on the screen.

By default, when you taking photo with N73 camera, it automatically will produce a shutter sound. With N73 powerful speaker, the shutter sound can be quite annoying and embarrassing specially when you taking picture inside a room of people. The shutter sound can't be disable if you are from Asia-Pacific region. This is because the laws here said so. [To avoid people taking your personal photo without your notice]
Since i bought N73 ME, i been searching all over internet for the solution to turn off the shutter sound. Finally, i found it! I would like to share it with you now.

How to download map to your N73 Nokia Map?

First of all, make sure your N73 has the Nokia Map software. By Default, it is installed inside your phone. Check inside your N73 application folder>Maps for it. When you open your Nokia Map, it will not show any map.Don't panic, by default Nokia Map don't have any map in it's directory. You have to download it by yourselves.

If by any rare chance that you don't have the Nokia Map software, you can download it from Nokia Map 2.0. Install it on your phone.

If you already have the Nokia Map on your N73. Please continues...

You will need a software call Nokia Map loader. Download it and install on your computer.
After the installation, plug your N73 to your computer with the data cable. Choose PC Suite in your phone. Make sure your Nokia PC Suite detect it. Now you can open the newly install Nokia Map loader. You will see the GUI like below.
From the list, choose the map you want to download. I want to download map of Malaysia, so i choose Asia>Malaysia and click on the "+" button besides Malaysia to add it into the list.
After you have select all the map you want. Click on the Download button and wait for the process to finish.
Ok, now you are done. Open your nokia map on your N73 and start to check your map. It will be available now! If you still find your Nokia map showing blank, try use the zoom in and out function. Cheer!

Ok, now you are done. From the nokia map loader, you may also download the voice of nokia map according to language of your preferences. Enjoy!

Before we start the tutorial, you should read the FAQ of firmware Update first.

There are two method to update your phone firmware. Either with Nokia Software Updater(NSU) or with Pheonix. This tutorial will teach you how to update your firmware with Nokia Software Updater (NSU).

Update N73 firmware with NSU is a very easy process. First of you will need

Computer - recommended to use Laptop
Data cable of N73
Internet connection
Nokia Software Updater (NSU) Download

Nemesis Service Suite (NSS) Download
Your N73 will Full Battery Charged

Tutorial

First of all prepare yourselves a laptop or PC with internet connection. Download the latest version of Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Software Updater, and Nemesis Service Suite. Make sure you have the latest version of them if you are using Windows 7.
Install Nokia PC Suite and Nemesis Service Suite(keep pressing next during installation). After install both software, plug your N73 with data cable to your computer, choose PC Suite. Make sure Nokia PC Suite detect N73 phone. If you need your data please backup all your data like contact, image, video, music, document..etc.
This step is for those who want to change their product code.
Why change your product code?[Product Code List]
Open Nokia PC Suite>setting>manage connections. Untick everything on the List. After that, the Nokia PC Suite will show your N73 had disconnected.

Open Nemesis Service Suite, choose scan for new device>phone info>read(3). Now see your produce code(4).
To change your product code, first tick the Enable besides your product code(4). Change your product code and click on write(5). Click read again to check if the product code had changed.
Open Nokia PC Suite>setting>manage connections. Tick series cable and USB cable. Make sure Nokia PC Suite show your phone had connected.
Now Install Nokia Software Updater and open it.

First you will see this the interface. You can see your current firmware version and the version you will be updated.

Nokia Software Updater will download the latest firmware from server. The time to download will depend on your internet speed.

After the download had finish, NSU will update the firmware to your phone. Warning: make sure there are no electric blackout or data cable unplug during this process.

wait till this screen appear and you are done!
Wait for your phone to reboot. press *#0000# on your N73 to check your current firmware. See if it is updated accordingly.

Why do i need to change my product code?
Product code identify your phone identity. it give information about region of the phone and edition of the phone. So by changing the product code you can

Change your phone from one edition to another.
E.g: N73 to N73 ME, N73 to N73 IE, N73 ME to N73 IE...etc
Change the phone region
E.g: America, Africa, Hongkong, Asia Pasific...etc
Change the native language support.
By changing the phone region, it automatically change the phone native language support. For example Hongkong support chinese language, Thailand support Thai language.

After changing the Product Code, you need to do a firmware update so the phone can flash new firmware for it new product code.

Before we start, there are some FAQ that you might want to know before proceed to update your firmware. FAQ

What is firmware?
Firmware is the program that run and control your phone. Without firmware, your phone is just like a car without a driver.
Why do i need to update my firmware?
No product in this world is perfect. There are bugs and problems of phone that only be discover by phone user after the phone had released. Nokia is getting feedback from users and try to fix the problems. So every time they fix and improve the phone, they will release new firmware for user to update it. Update firmware is just like updating your windows.
Will my data in the phone loss after firmware update?
Yes, your data will be loss. So make sure you do all your backup before firmware update.
Will my phone continues to support my native language after firmware update?
For those who buy Original N73, it is more likely your phone will remain the same support of language. For those who buy AP phone (Referring to Hand Phone set that is not imported by Authorized Distributor respectively), you might loss support of your native language. But no fear, it is just matter of changing product code. Included in the tutorial.
Can i change my N73 firmware to N73 Music Edition or N73 Internet Edition?
Yes, you can. It is only the matter of changing the product code. Included in the tutorial.
What do I gain from firmware update?
Your phone will be much better after firmware update, faster, improve camera, fix bugs, improve sound..etc. The main aim of this tutorial is to teach you to update firmware yourselves at home for free. Of course you can send your phone to any phone shop for update but it might cause you some money.
What if i fail during the process of firmware update?
This might be cause by improper procedure or electric blackout during updating the firmware. Your phone might not be working if the update fail (unlikely to happen). If this really happen, consider yourselves as the unlucky one, take your phone to nearest Nokia Service Centre, they will flash the firmware for you. Your phone will back to life in no time.

How to solve "No ringtone when receive sms" problem

Some of us might have face this problem before on N73. I have this problem myself few months ago. When i receive sms, there was no ringtone from my N73(i didn't set silent mode) . I don't know when is the msg received, but it is inside my inbox. It is kinda annoying as i miss many sms and need to keep checking my inbox cause my N73 wont ring.

After a few try on my phone, i found the problem and solution. The problem is there are too much sms in the inbox. I had more than thousand sms insides my inbox and i never bother to delete it. So to solve it:

Delete the old sms on your phone as much as possible.
Restart your phone.

This should solve the problem, it work for me. Hope it help.

How to Solve N73 "Memory full. Delete some data!" problem

Im sure most of the N73 user out there had encounter this problems before. This is the most annoying bug of N73, it shows "Memory full. Delete some data!" error and blocking you from opening sms, contact, application, games...almost everything.

This bug is cause by Nokia lifeblog which is a stupid application that nobody is using it. The bug was cause by two sources. a file named lifeblog.db and a process named LifeblogDBSERVER.exe. The problem is about huge file size of "lifeblog db" file in phones internal memory. Suddenly internal memory falls to 144k due to the large lifeblog.db file in c:\data\lifeblog\database\

The following tutorial will teach you solve this problem step by step, eliminate it once and for all.

First of all, you will need 2 software

JBak Taskman [freeware]
Download

X-plore v1.34
Download

Download and install both application on your phone
a) Jbaktaskman
b) X-plore
Open jbtaskman and go to Tools > Processes and look for "LifeblogDBSERVER.exe" file and Terminate the process.
Open X-plore and go to the configuration
Menu>tools>configuration Or by just pressing 0
Please make sure the following option is tick:
Select Show Hidden files
Select Show Romdrives
Select Show Ram drives
Select Show system files/Folders

now u can go to c:\data\lifeblog\database\ and delete lifeblog.db file to free memory.
Now restart phone and repeat step 2
Again go to c:\data\lifeblog\database\ and change the attributes of lifeblog.db file to 'hidden' and 'read only' using x-plore.
Restart phone and search for LifeblogDBSERVER.exe using jbtaskman. hopefully it wont be there to cause any further troubles. ! !

How to Format your symbian phone

A symbian phone is just like a mini computer, it is powerful but easy to mess up or infected with virus if you did not manage it wisely. Formatting a symbian is very easy and can be done in just 1 minute. There are 2 kind of formation. By pressing the number below and wait for it to reboot.

1. *#7780#
Reset setting
It will reset your phone program / settings。but will keep the data (e.g. software, image ...)
It will just reset all your phone setting to default setting.

2. *#7370#
Reformat All
It will totally reformat all data in your phone memory C:
All data in your phone memory will be gone. [Drive C: will be formated]
The symbian OS will be reinstall and all setting return to default upon reboot.
However your memory card is not formated. [Drive E:]

To format your memory card, you can to go menu>tools>memory>option>Format mem.card

Personally i recommend you to backup everything important to your PC. After that start to format your memory card then only follow with *#7370# format.

Both 1 and 2 method will request for a password, the default password is 12345.

IMEI and the law
IMEI is the abbreviation for International Mobile Equipment Identity. You can look at the IMEI number as the serial number of your cellular phone, just as in the serial number of cars, scooters and weapons. You can find this serial number at the following places: On a white tag with a barcode at the side of the original box of your cellular phone On a white sticker, often with barcode, underneath the battery, By typing in *#06# in your cellular phone. An IMEI number always contains 15 numbers and it's unique for every cellular phone. Because of this the IMEI number is competent as the recognition point of your cellular phone. A cellular phone is a wanted object and therefore it's clever to registrate your IMEI number at the police, you provider or the insurance company (you often have to registrate your IMEI number to make sure your cellular phone is insuranced) and also at your home.

When your cellular phone is stolen the police can send a SMS bomb with the help of your IMEI number. This SMS bomb says: "This cellular phone is stolen, go to the police". Because of this bomb it's impossible for a thieve to sell this cellular phone because the client will notice that it's not safe to buy it.

Perhaps you will think that when another SIM-card is put into the stolen cellular phone the SMS bombing will stop. This isn't true. Next to the cellular telephone number (that's bound to the SIM-card) the telephone always emits an IMEI number with which the provider can see which telephone is calling. A provider cannot only send an SMS to cellular phone numbers, but also to IMEI numbers. The IMEI number stays the same when another SIM-card is put into your cellular phone, therefore the IMEI number is a good security.

The drawback: Big criminals aren't frightened away by an IMEI number. You can assume that big criminals possess software with an IMEI calculator with which they can change the IMEI number into an IMEI number that's not on the black list. However, the basic rule is: The tougher you make it for a thieve, the better.

Without 3rd party applications, symbian phone is nothing more than an ordinary phone.

Hacking your phone is quite safe nowadays and you can done it in just few minutes.
The following tutorial is 100% working with Nokia N73 [4.0839.42.2.1] tested by myself.

First you need 4 files

Easy steps to Hack/unlock your N73

Download the file and unzip to your pc.
Transfer the 4 files to your phone memory card.
install Secman v1.10.sis. When the installation is done, look in the Applications folder on your phone, and find SecMan. Open it and wait to load. Follow the instruction and it will auto reboot your phone.
Open it again and click on "Install Root Certificate". After that now Select turn platform security off.
Install X-plore v1.34 . Open X-plore. First start to configuration of xplore which can be found on:
Menu>tools>configuration Or by just pressing 0
Please make sure the following option is tick:
Select Show Hidden files
Select Show Romdrives
Select Show Ram drives
Select Show system files/Folders
If All ready then continue! By using x-plore
Go to C:
Access c:\sys
copy the files CProfDriver_SISX.ldd and Installserver.exe to C:\sys\bin

Now your phone is Hacked! Thats all, very fast,easy and simple! You are now ready to install any sis file which u know there is no expired certificates,no certificate errors again! just install anything u want!!!

This tutorial might be working for other phone in the list. I have not tried yet, if you successfully hack any phone in the list using my method, please let me know. Thx.
